Hitachi's On-Glass Projection System can create amazingly bright and clear 40" images on an ordinary window pane.

Hitachi has introduced a new video/PC imaging system that can be used to project a dynamic 40" picture onto a transparent glass surface such as a store front window. This On-Glass Projection System consists of a 40" exclusive transparent screen (Hologram Screen) and a high luminosity LCD projector, installed inside the room or store, to project the images onto the transparent screen which is attached to the window pane. This display is an excellent way to capture the attention of passing people, which makes it ideal for a wide range of applications from advertising and promotion to information provision and display attractions.

The Principle of the Transparent Screen

The transparent screen is made of a special resin called a photopolymer which is capable of refracting light in the manner of a prism. In order to refract the light from the projector accurately a 0.3µm - 2.0µm pitch (about 1/30th to 1/5th the diameter of a human hair) superfine process is applied to the screen. Furthermore, the screen is precisely configured to polarize the incident light falling on different areas of the screen (angle of incidence at screen centre: 35 degrees) so that it emerges from the front evenly to produce a bright and clear image with great uniformity.
